- Monitor & Control the 400 kV grid voltage, frequency and power flows, ensure compliance with the regulations, agreed procedures and guidelines.
- Coordinate with the member states for the control of the generation spinning and non-spinning reserve as agreed and allocated for each country.
- Ensure that power trading is meeting schedules and regulations and coordinate with trading department
- Monitor member states operational obligations to ensure compliance with the regulations, agreed procedures and guidelines.
- Use all new facilities for proper monitoring & control power system i.e. WAMS, DFR & CCTV etc.
- Determines remedial action in case of system events and ensures that the appropriate actions are instigated by the responsible person
- Review the Consolidated data, Transmission reports, generate reports and present to Senior Manager - ICC Operations.
- Ensure that the Senior Manager - ICC Operations is informed of all important events and briefed on the performance of the system in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure 100% compliance with agreed operational policies and procedures.
- Ensure the correct implementation of the system outages, to involve co-ordination between internal and external parties.
- Direct hour-by-hour Power Control Center Operations and the activities of Shift assigned responsibilities.
- Ensure that all the actions taken are correct and coordinated. Maintain the interconnected power system in a stable, safe and reliable condition at all times through use or direction of use of system security EMS packages.
- Monitor the overall current system status through close review of logs, computer system data, field reports and monitoring of actions taken by Shift personnel.
- Review, correct and approve all power system prepared switching orders, logs, reports, etc. prior to implementation or transmittal. Write switching orders for complex pre-arranged operations as directed by the Senior Manager - ICC Operations.
- Review all day to day generation and transmission maintenance schedules and reviews or cancels schedules as required to maintain reliable system operations.
- Reviews system short and long term planning reports and keeps all shift personnel aware of projected contingencies.
- Coordinate and make notification for all unscheduled outages with member states NCCs.
- Maintain complete accurate operations logs and report.
- Oversee the compilation of required system data to ensure system accuracy and completeness for reports and studies.
- Review the Daily Power System Report
- Keep supervision appraised of current system status, capability, and security. In emergencies ensure that appropriate levels of GCCIA management are kept informed of relevant information per notification procedures.
- Provide direct on-the-job training for new control engineers assigned to their shift
- Submit evaluations concerning control engineers’ capabilities, performance, and progress. And recommend additional training as required.
- Ensure that all normal shift duties and responsibilities are completed fully and accurately as per procedures with minimal direction from supervision.
- Supervise Control Engineer and provide necessary coaching and mentoring
- Assist the Senior Manager - ICC Operations in the annual performance review.
