Job overview:
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing logistics operations, including inventory management, transportation, and warehouse oversight. This role involves supervising outsourced warehouse activities, coordinating the timely and efficient delivery of materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The Logistics Specialist will work closely with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless logistics operations that support GCCIA’s maintenance and operational needs.
Key responsibilities:
Warehouse Supervision and Coordination:
- Oversee the activities of outsourced warehouse management contractors to ensure compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Ensure the accurate receiving, storing, and issuing of materials and equipment from warehouse sites.
- Conduct high-level quality checks on all incoming and outgoing goods and ensure alignment with company specifications and standards.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and manage replenishment processes to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Conduct periodic stock counts, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and prepare related reports to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ensure inventory data alignment with ERP systems to maintain accurate inventory records and reporting.
Logistics and Transportation Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate the transportation and delivery of materials, equipment, and goods to various sites to ensure timely and efficient logistics support.
- Work closely with internal departments and external vendors to schedule deliveries, manage logistics costs, and improve lead times.
Supplier and Quality Management:
- Collaborate with suppliers to address quality concerns, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions.
- Act as the primary point of contact between suppliers and internal teams regarding logistics and quality issues, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Conduct thorough inspections of incoming goods to ensure they comply with specified quality standards.
Process Improvement and Compliance:
- Continuously evaluate and improve logistics and warehouse management processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Ensure all logistics and quality control activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of logistics operations, inventory transactions, inspections, and non-conformance reports.
- Prepare and present regular reports to management, highlighting key logistics performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to internal teams on logistics procedures, quality standards, and best practices.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Diploma degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
Skills
- Experience in managing outsourced contractors and working with ERP systems for inventory management.
- Strong understanding of logistics, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze logistics data, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for inventory control and logistics management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of quality control standards and procedures.
